Detection of Chlamydia Antibody by Indirect Immunofluorescence Technique in Pelivic Inflammatory Disease



Abstract
Chlamydia trachomatis infection of genitourinary tract has been increased recently and regraded as one of the most important sexually transmitted disease.
It has been well known that this organism has also been implicated as an etiologic agent in pelvic inflammatory disease(PID). This study was undertaken to assess the prevalence of chlamydia trachomatis antibody positive rate among 101 patients
with
pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) from sept. 1, 1991 to sept. 30, 1992 in the Department of obstetrics and Gynecology, Samsung Hospital, Yangsan.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Chlamydia trachomatis antibodywas positive in 16(15.8%) of 101 patients with PID.
2. The highest prevalence of chlamydia trachomatis antibody associated PID occurred in the group os 41 to 50 years old (33.3%).
3. there were no significant differences in parity and abortion between Chlamydia trachomatis antibody positive and negative group.
4. Positive rate of chlamydia trachomastis antibody was not differ between group who uwed contraceptives and who dose not used contraceptives.
5. Chlamydia trachomatis infections were asymptomatic and frequent consequence of salpingitis and tubal infertility, but it reveals good cure rate. So, these infected but asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic women are screened and treated to
reduce
morbidity and complication.
